“If you love love - you will love Surrealism.” Heartbreakingly beautiful ephemera from our Eluard-Dausse collection - first organized by our esteemed colleague, Sheelagh Bevan, who is now working at the Morgan Library. Learn more about our Eluard-Dausse collection on the website of Bevan’s MoMA library exhibition from a few years ago…A description of these materials above from the exhibition website:
“Papillons surréalistes Paris, 1925. These colorful papillons (butterflies) were distributed to the public at the Surrealists’ storefront operation in Paris, the Bureau of Surrealist Researches. The messages (If you love love, then you’ll love Surrealism and Parents, tell your kids your dreams) reflect the whimsical tone of the Surrealists’ early years.” -ds
